Who We Are

Dominic Esposito, Founder

Scrap Hunger, Inc. was founded by Dominic Esposito when he was thirteen years old.  In 2013, after conducting research and speaking with individuals and local businesses about an environmental project, Dominic learned that many people were not properly recycling small scrap metal.  Around the same time, he read that Hurricane Sandy has resulted in hardships for many New Jersey families and that food pantries and shelters are having a difficult time keeping shelves stocked.  Dominic soon realized that large amounts of scrap metal have value and that scrap metal proceeds could be used to help feed the hungry in New Jersey.  The idea for Scrap Hunger, Inc. was born and with the help of family and friends, it was incorporated on February 19, 2014 and became a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization on July 16, 2014.  Through his efforts with Scrap Hunger, Inc., Dominic hopes to encourage others to give back to their community and combine their charitable giving in a way that helps protect resources and the environment too.
